DaltonChris.com: a portfolio that does not look like a template
A personal portfolio and game-development site with custom glitch effects, canvas animation, project writeups and a live interactive fish tank. The design goal was simple: make it feel like the person behind it, not like a theme with the name swapped out.
Personality without sacrificing clarity
A creative portfolio for a game developer — expressive on the surface, structured underneath.
FEATURES
The brief
A developer portfolio is a strange piece of work. It has to show technical ability, but it also has to be usable by someone who is not a developer. DaltonChris.com was built to do both: a strong visual identity and a clear path to the projects.
What shipped
A personal portfolio and game-development site with custom glitch effects, canvas animation, project writeups and a live interactive fish tank. The homepage establishes the visual language; the portfolio page does the practical work of showing what was built.
The custom layer
The glitch typography and canvas rain are not plugins. They are built for the site, which means they can be tuned to the content and kept lightweight. The interactive fish tank is a small playable page — a demonstration of the kind of animation and interaction the developer works with.
Structure underneath
The expressive layer only works if the underlying page is conventional where it needs to be: readable project descriptions, clear navigation, sensible heading order and fast loading. The portfolio does not make a visitor solve the interface before they can read the work.
Why it holds up
The site is a direct representation of its owner rather than a generic template. It is also practical: projects are presented as work, not as decoration, and the interactive elements support the identity instead of replacing the content.
Home, portfolio and the tank
Three pages from the same custom visual system.
A live portfolio with its own identity
Built and maintained by DaltSync.
The result is a portfolio that behaves like a small product: custom interaction, a consistent visual language and a clear route through the work. It is deliberately not a template, and it is maintained as the owner's work changes.
